Both use acceleration control. Forgiving adds damping, shrinks the effective capture region, and restarts faster.
Filter time constant. Lower values respond faster; higher values soften sensor noise.
Screen axes are remapped automatically.
For phone tilt, open this page directly in Safari or Chrome. Use “Enable tilt”, hold a comfortable viewing angle, then calibrate. If access was declined, check the browser’s motion settings; Safari may require clearing this site’s data before asking again.
Event age measures browser delivery to a rendered frame, not physical sensor-to-photon latency. Timestamps cannot expose the sensor’s internal delay. *Orientation events may be change-driven: their delivered rate is not the hardware sampling rate. Hold at a comfortable pitch, calibrate, then make a quick tilt step to inspect the response.
240 Hz fixed steps with bounded sub-steps, 50 ms frame-gap clamp, and manual resume after hiding. Ball radius 7.5 mm; board 300 × 360 mm; speed limited to 0.85 m/s. Wall impacts use normal restitution and tangential loss; spin is omitted.
Hole capture integrates unsupported crossing time and compares it with √(2h/g), using an effective 4 mm catch depth and an unsupported radius of hole radius minus ball radius. Fast crossings can skip a hole. This is an explicit rim approximation, not a full 3D contact simulation.
Test Safari on an iPhone and Chrome on an Android phone, preferably a model without a gyroscope. Calibrate pitched at about 35°, turn in your chair, check all screen orientations, try a sharp tilt step, then switch apps and resume. Sensor presence alone does not identify the hardware or fusion algorithm.
